Upcoming Events:
Reconciliation: the way ahead
Where is Reconciliation two years on from the Apology to the Stolen Generations? Is symbolism or practicality more important? 2009 Australian of the Year, Mick Dodson, argues the distinction is irrelevant.
The Evatt Foundation is proud to present him in discussion with eminent historian, Henry Reynolds.

NSW Council for Civil Liberties takes great pleasure in inviting you to lunch with NSW Ombudsman Bruce Barbour.
An independent and well resourced Ombudsman is essential to the protection of Civil Liberties.
Special Speaker: BRUCE BARBOUR NSW Ombudsman
Bruce Barbour was appointed NSW Ombudsman in June 2000. His background is in law with a particular specialty in administrative law.
Before being appointed NSW Ombudsman, Bruce was a senior member of the Commonwealth Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) for nine years and was also a member of the Casino Control Authority.
Prior to being appointed to the bench of the AAT, Bruce was Director of the Licensing Division of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal (now the Australian Broadcasting Authority).
Time: Friday, 12 March 2010, 12:30pm
Location: Strangers? Dining Room, Parliament House, Macquarie St, Sydney
Cost: $85 (Member) $95 (Non-member) $680 (Table of Eight)

And finally......
ALHR's AGM is being held on Wednesday 24 March 2010. There will also be a NSW Branch meeting on the same evening which will be a chance for people to get involved in ALHR activities this year, including submission writing, events etc and most importantly one/two NSW Co-Convenors. If you are interested in nominating to be a NSW Convenor, can you please send your nomination to [email protected] by 17 March.

Location: Public Interest Advocacy Centre, Level 9, 299 Elizabeth Street, Sydney
