Human Rights and Australia's Anti-Terrorism Legislation

Date 27 March 2012
Subject Terrorism | War
Type Seminar / Training / Past ALHR Event
Description One of our members, Nathan Kennedy, recently made a presentation on behalf of ALHR on the above topic at a two-day seminar for Muslim religious workers and leaders, ?Maintaining and Resilient Community?. The seminar was organised in response to perceptions among the Muslim community that legislation and programs to counter violent extremism unfairly target their community, and aimed to assist participants to understand the legislation, and their rights and responsibilities in ensuring ?a safe, secure and cohesive society?.

Nathan?s presentation outlined the nature and source of human rights, anti-terrorism legislation and the human rights framework in Australia. Slides and presentation notes may be of interest to members and are available below.
